ICE v Electric: Cost and Emissions

Subaru
Honda
Toyota

That said it all depends on prior ownership and maintenance. You can tell within minutes of looking/driving the vehicle.
My son was talking about replacing his Subaru WRX (very fun car) with an Audi or BMW. I said, do you really want to take a pounding on depreciation and face more expensive maintenance? He decided he's probably get another Subi.

Smart kid.
I love BMW, but that's a ride a person needs to keep on point, and that's expensive to do. And the Audi R8 is one of the coolest machines ever made, but the same applies to that.

My Golf Alltrack has 100k miles on it, and it runs like a champ. Unfortunately, VW stopped bringing them to the US 6 six years ago. Don't know what I'll do for the next vehicle.

Meanwhile, in Germany, Golf-sized wagons were the primary vehicle we saw on the the road, in addition to little hatchbacks.

VW. I don't love modern Toyotas. The interiors are cheap and basic. 4 way lumbar is a must for me, hard to get in a Toyota.

Honda has a good lumbar in the CRV.

I guess the cost of a better interior is $700 per service, plus the cost endless belts sensors and fluids. If you value the VW interior so highly, I guess you gotta live with it. I've had 5 CRVs, the only unscheduled repair was an alternator on one of them.

Y is a hatchback, but surprisingly big in terms of cargo capacity. I think it can tow 4000 pounds? Didn't you say the only reason you want a truck is to tow a 1000 pound ATV?

We are moving to the Adk, we need to haul our own garbage to the dump. I'd rather not do that inside a car every week. Also moving chainsaws, lawnmowers, gas cans, that kind of stuff. It won't be a work truck. I'm retired and I don't want to work.

I moved this garden wagon here to the Adk Friday:

Getting it in the CRV was hard on my back.

I want to carry stuff. Dirty stuff. With ease.

Unlikely that I will tow anything. The UTV we are looking at is under 2000 lbs, maybe we'd tow that the day we buy it? Maybe they will deliver it. (I think Polaris delivers). I guess if we get an electric UTV it won't need service? 🤠

the mav is a nice looking truck....but i would recommend a extended warranty. ford ain't exactly known for their quality

I'll keep it for 3 years, with the factory warrantee. Hopefully it is up to the task.

If money were no object

Also the endless belts and chains was not Alltrack specific, but generally with any old car.

What does Honda charge for routine yearly maintenance? What will Ford? It's a question more people should ask
