Maverick hybrid, Maverick gasser, Ranger.
I drove both Mavs but not the Ranger. I drove both on the same loop (suburbs), got 21 mpg in the gasser and 33 in the hybrid. (On the 21-mile drive to the dealer, in the CRV, also suburbs I got 52.)
The Mav ICE was odd to me. The gas motor was smoother than the hybrid, but the transmission was bizarre. It's an 10 speed auto, and the shifting was odd. Up and down several times as I was cruising at a steady 40 mph.
I bought the hybrid. Oddly, it's only 3k more than the ICE.
I'm already there. I never been less excited about a new car. It rides like a roller skate. Bed is too small to fit skis without going diagonal. Motor is uninspiring compared to a Honda. Safety features that are standard on a Honda (like lane change light) were extra.
Maybe I could do without a truck for a few more years, but I went for it. I waited as long as I could for the Toyota Stout, but it's still no where in sight. Also I have to wait ~12 weeks for delivery. If you want white you can get anything, immediately. Maybe I'm a wuss but I don't like white cars. (The wait also diminishes the value for me, with moving coming up, I could use a truck now.)
I probably trade it for the Stout when it is in it's second model year.
