Saw this article in the Times Union this am, I heard ORDA was considering the same...

"Their approach: shoot silver iodide into clouds, where moisture binds to the particles, forms ice and falls as snow."

So folks restrict tree cutting in the Adirondack Park but folks are thinking of putting Silver Iodide in clouds?

We don't need moisture we need cold air. Can you seed for that?

Schaefer from the trail...
Nope, Paul Schaefer is the man behind the trail, but Vincent may have been a brother or relative. Paul worked for GE in Schenectady also.

Vinny, Paul’s brother, worked there too and made snow with dry ice.
Greg Schaefer said the trail is named after his family.
Schaefer trail works as a name.
A rose by any other name would still smell as sweet.
"The trail is named after my family. Carl Schaefer, my father built the first rope tow in New York at the Ski Bowl in 1935. His brothers Paul Schaefer, the noted conservationist, and Vincent Schaefer, a chemist and meteorologist were influential in starting skiing and the Snow Trains to North Creek. Vincent was the first to seed clouds to make snow. The trail is now routed close to Roaring Brook which makes for a scenic hike any time of year."

I remember the first few years that the Schaefer trail was built and running into Don Greene (husband of Evelyn Schaefer, Paul's daughter) daily. Evelyn is a wealth of history information for our area here.
