Is an NYC Winter Olympics out of the question? All ice events in the city @ the various hockey arenas, and skiing and jumping in LP. Would think they could handle the reduced capacity that way. It’s about a 4.5 hour drive. Most Olympics lately, both summer and winter, seem to be quite spread out. No idea if anything that far though. I’m not saying it’s a good idea, but I would think NY politicians would LOVE that sort of boondoggle.Note the ORDA spokesperson's non-answer.
They have the facilities for sure, but I don't see how LP can handle the influx of people you'd have for the Olympics. Plus, the IOC seems to prefer a bright lights, big city kind of vibe for the host venue these days.

Agreed! If you look at how they distributed the ski events in Salt Lake, they were everywhere. I think 3 or 4 ski areas had events. It ain’t all Lake Placid...
When asked about the extent of ORDA’s involvement in creating the bill, ORDA Director of Communications Darcy Norfolk responded with a statement from the authority.
“ORDA appreciates the Assembly’s ongoing support for our venues in Lake Placid,” the statement read. “The 2023 Lake Placid FISU World University Games will showcase the North Country and New York state’s ability to host successful events. We are proud to be stewards of our heritage and environment as we plan an exciting future.”

The WUG is warmups.
Don’t forget Gore’s more recent involvements with the other outdoor games stuff.
