Psychology and the Good Life

I think this is great and I may sign up. Not everyone has come through the pandemic ok. Here's my timeline. My son graduated from college and moved out in May 2019. My mom's cancer got intense in early August 2019. She died on September 19, 2019. My son's long time GF broke up with him in December. I had my first Christmas with less than a full family in December. Cue the pandemic. My son, who is in construction management got transferred to NJ in April. I spent 15 months working from home. Basically, my life has been in chaos for a couple of years. Throughout it, I have tried to maintain whatever sense of normalcy I could. I have ridden my horse as much as possible, increased my jogging and yoga, since I didn't have a commute. And, sometimes, I still feel like I am losing my shit.

That article is about living in the moment. I think. Camp, seems to me like something you already learned.

For me that's thing about camping. And being at camp too. It's all about enjoying the simple things.

I don't think I learned it, rather it was instilled in us as kids. When your mom grows up going to a one room school house, no phone, no TV, no plumbing, you learn to appreciate and look at the little things differently than most.

AGREE : Simplicity is a wonderful goal , there is a great comfort to it especially when you are at a point to get off the treadmill of making a living and all the psychological baggage that comes with that melieu .

Life aint a dress rehearsal, tis wiser to get busy making a LIFE , not just a living . We are all MUCH MORE than what we do .

Collect people , not stuff , stuff is strictly a short term satisfier . It only generates more problems and frankly NO ONE cares about your materialism .

Now you do need ENOUGH dough and security but not to beyond supporting your needs . FRankly athat is never worth simply draining your LIFE force to empty. So do what you like ,but like what you do ( honestly , not self delusional thinking ) .If you genuinely like what you do as many do GREAT , keep doing it

Campy is on target with noting that the best things in Life are the simple things that many of us learned from our parents. They often had a very clear focus on the difference between needs. Vs wants .
