A day after (I missed) the powfest in the Syracuse sidecountry, I drove out to Woods Valley to meet @Robert on his home turf.
Not a bad consolation prize, as Woods Valley has picked up where they left off last year, totalling 110 inches of snow so far this season.
I love driving through the forgotten parts of New York. They are simple, unassuming and beautiful.
Once again I was "behind schedule" shooting for an hour before first chair, and missing that by thirty minutes.
Somewhere in Oneida County
Before 1st Chair
Woods Valley Lodge
5 minutes before first chair, on a holiday, no one was in line. I was actually 1st in line, and I didn't arrive ready to load until 9am.
Cold Morning
It was really cold today, the high was maybe 10 or 15 degrees.
Freya's Woods
Every thing with enough pitch was skiable. The snow was extremely quiet.
'til your smelly
Top of Timmy's
Valkries Woods
For some reason no one ripped the ungroomed 'steep' on Copy Cat. Robert and I schooled em.
@Robert
Broadway
We made it until about 1:30, an estimated 18 runs and 9000 vertical feet of powder and packed powder.
