Around Raleigh, NC, all the roads are getting treated because the Triangle is clearly in the dangerous ice zone. Even in residential areas like mine for the main in/out road for the subdivision. That's unusual. Unfortunately, even the NC mountains are more going to get mixed precipitation and icy roads than snow.

I know a Massanutten regular who only lives an hour away who booked a hotel room on resort for Saturday night so that he can ski in natural snow on Sunday. If I didn't have some family obligations right now, I might have driven up on Friday but probably would've had to stay until Tuesday or Wednesday. Instead, I stocked up on food for 4 adults on Wednesday to get us through for a week. Very unlikely my daughter will have to make the drive on Monday to the preschool/daycare where she works. Quite a few cancellations of events scheduled for the weekend were postponed a day or two ago.
