Winter Weather 25/26

Ya put a blanket on em?

Horses make a lot of heat and have winter coats to boot.

The dang beagles even make quite a bit of heat.
I don't tend to blanket. I just ramp up the food, and as long as they keep their weight on, there is no need to blanket. I don't know if you have ever been lucky enough to snuggle a horse with a full on winter coat who is snoozing in the sunshine. They are completely toasty. :)

The heated gloves are a definite maybe. While they were warm, the are pretty stiff and bulky. I need more dexterity. I should also read the instructions. ;)

Never hung with a horse much in the wintertime but do know they sweat a lot.

When we lived outside Oxford Miss. in a drafty old brick shack “house" there was a thoroughbred farm accross highway 6. The thoroughbreds were air-conditioned while we only had fans. I think later on John Grisham bought that farm after he wrote some books. Our house came with a go-cart track, on 56 acres with a detached garage out back (packed with garbage & beer cans). The old lawyer landlord on the square said the place wasn’t fit to live in. We knew that but said we’d make it livable if we didn’t have to pay any rent. The place we lived is now a fancy housing development with a nice lake/pond.

Those horses had a much better place to live than we did even after we fixed the joint up.

Hotty Toddy.

That is a very interesting story!

Yeah it was.
There’s lots of stories.
Billy Faulkner wrote some folks refer to as novels.
Willie Morris was in town then and told us some of his stories.

Oxford's actually a nice place to live if ya like hills and the countryside.
I liked it’s pace and the way it smelled.
It’s much busier now.
Might be too busy for me now.

This is probably more bad.

Wind has died down some but still cold with ❄️ bands blowing off the lake.
Just not as far inland as when it really cranks.
Storm chasers are out live in The Land of Oz.
