Winter Weather 23/24

Sorry to see the east coast getting a blow torch! Hopefully, the remainder of the season is saved by some nor’easters. It’s not over until it’s over.

Up until yesterday, things were dire here in southwest BC. Lots of the local mountains were either closed or barely operating (as they have been most of the season). The snowpack in the mountains around Vancouver was more akin to what you would see in mid to late June in a normal year.

The storm currently slamming the west coast is a game changer for this season, especially in these parts. Whistler is easily looking at 3-4 feet from this.

Ladies and Gents! We had to cancel our ski trip last week for a family health issue (everyone ok now, but glad we cancelled).

I am thinking of sneaking up solo on Saturday at Belle or even Camelback (Ikon). I think Saturday will be ok to spring skiing now that the forecast is for occasional light rain and 44-37 temps on Saturday after warm temps Friday. Assuming I am right on temps, am I missing anything?

I know Belle has been packing em out this year, but I imagine post Pres day and overcast/rain will keep. Kids don't want to go (and assuming wife won't) so probably solo.

PS: My kids have clearly hit the 'friend age' (10 and 13): if we have a friend of theirs coming, they are all in and smiles to ski. If dad wants to ski with them or do a trip on non holiday, they mostly want to rest or do something around here with friends/family. Planning both our xmas trips next year with family friends which will be great for skiing haha. So we will all be back on Ski3 also, reviving the Gore/Whiteface debate for Xmas (seems to me Feb break Gore would be better due to trees).

Dang wind blowing thru with a gully washer a bit ago.
Cold front on it’s way.
Lab/Song/Greek/Bristol/Woods Valley didn't open today.
Cuse areas schools are pretty near all closed today.
The narrow lake effect bands from the Big O & Eerie are missing the bumps south of town so far.
No snow accumulation in some places but a few mile away it’s whiteout...

It will be empty.

Band just moved south and we picked up a couple quick inches. But now the suns out.
If the band stays put and doesn’t peter out we’ll have something ❄️ to play ⛷️with.
