Few more days of minus temps and your lake effect will be done

Got about 3 inches at my house last night near Raleigh, NC. Fayetteville got 4.5 inches and it's farther south and east. Small flakes that started after dinner, not big fat wet flakes. Melting in the sun, but roads will ice up tonight with temps in the teens and 20s.

Wanna bet? Otisco is the only one froze over & the Big O is pretty much wide open.
There's lake effect clouds in all seasons.

But it’s greatest in Nov and Dec

Greater the delta T
Higher the instability
Also if the lake freeezes over yiu will loose the source of moisture

I don't know about the delta.

I do know: Erie freezes over most/many years. It is much shallower than Ontario. It's fairly unusual for Ontario to freeze over.

So those areas that rely on Erie, Holiday Valley, Peek n Peak, Cockaigne, BSC have shorter LE seasons.
