Winter Weather 2024/25

It's 65 here in Baldwinsville just outside of Syracuse. Temperature shot up about 20 degrees in the last 3 hours. Totally ok.

Lights flickered several times but the power wasn’t out for more than a second each time a bit SW of ya. Gonna be warm to end the year then back to wintertime weather. Snow was sweet Friday at the local bumps.

For Jan 1, 2025 - 11 UTC translates to 7am here. But the storm reaches NY around 11pm Tuesday evening so please take care.

This looks like something that would be consistent with a storm. Could be too far south?

means nothing in term of storm location...but a sharper deep trough will spin up a storm...location well that's anyones guess

As I run the the 06z gfs..It show a prime example of what I am talking about , Very sharp deep and cold through at 500mb...It spins up imo a mega super storm...This feature is still in the tea leaves.. i'm just posting it for entertainment !!
First pic is of 500mb , not strong ridge in the Atlantic, this is the key ingredient ..
And now the MEGA Super Low...This is one for the ages...That said it is chock full of high winds and the qpf always disappoints

the imagines are out of order...the second one is a 500mb..that's a sharp deep trough..that's about to cut off on the next map
