Who's on the DL?

I've been pondering creating this thread for a while. I guess I've been pretty banged up this year, hoping I can keep skiing without missing a beat.

I felt we could use something below "Under the Knife" for lesser injuries that keep you out of the game.

Right now, I'm not technically on the DL, but maybe should be.

Saturday, I took digger at Gore walking from the deck to the gondola. Wasn't even on my phone, just walking across some gray ice, not looking down.

I landed on my back, on my binding, and it hurt like a basoonuvabitch. I was sore, but I skied my day, and the next day.

Thursday, we were in NJ for Thanksgiving with family. In the morning at breakfast, I sneezed and it hurt far worse than the original tumble. I thought I must have broken a rib. We went to the ER in Princeton. Luckily, it was deserted and they took me right away, and gave me a cat scan. (<More scared of the cost of that than any else at this point.)

Nothing broken. (Added bonus, no other scary discoveries with the cat scan.)

I feel like I'm recovering, but every time I sneeze it hurts and sets me back. I do sneeze a lot for whatever reason, and I've been reading up on techniques to stop a sneeze before it happens. I've actually prevented several sneezes since I Iearned how. It really works.

Today I wasn't going to ski. Not good for my quest for 100 days, but tomorrow has new snow (2-4") in the forecast and I thought about saving myself.

I skied anyway, four runs. The skiing itself was fine. What hurt was hoisting my boot bag onto my back, and lowering the safety bar when riding the chair alone. (Mountain was kind of deserted again this morning).

Anyone else ever hurt their back to then be tortured by unexpected sneezes?

Anyway, here's a thread for injury reports, if you wanna.

When I came off of my horse and fractured my L1, I had a lingering stuck right sacroiliac that was almost as bad as the fracture. It took about three weeks to release.

Also, you should get a chest x ray in my opinion.
I asked for one. They insisted that a cat scan was better?

They never showed me the scan. I'm calling Monday (again) to see if I can get a copy sent to another doc.

You can’t do anything for bruised ribs or hairline fractures. Being a broke ski bum without insurance I’ve mostly skipped seeing doctors. My last mountain bike crash 5-6 years ago was disturbingly violent. In hindsight I’m pretty damn sure I broke my scapula, ribs, wrist and maybe some spinal stuff. It still hurts.

Try cbd? Stretch hydrate repeat?

Second the idea of acupuncture. If you have bruising and suspect a cracked rib, there is a Chinese herbal remedy that I've used more than once. Learned about it when my mother broke a leg at age 70. She healed far faster than the doctors expected at her age. PM me if you want details.

Sounds like yer back hit on yer binding when ya fell?
Is that the area yer pain hurts?

Hope ya heal well.

That's what I figured.

Seems like a disconnect to ski when you can't fall.

The snowboarders were kind of freakin me a bit today.

Ya, it sure isn’t as much fun. It took me a good three years to really want to ride my bike again.

I won’t ski when it’s crowded. It’s way too dangerous for me and I can’t let go to ski the way I enjoy it. This was what made me decide that I was done with Snowbowl.
