Whiteface vs. Gore over Xmas and NYE?

but the direction the last few years has been to get the entire lower mountain and North Woods areas open before really moving up top.
They have been good about opening Topridge early the past few seasons. In addition to the much ballyhooed new trail/snowguns on Burnt Ridge, there are also some new guns being/have been installed on Chatiemac and Uncas this summer, so maybe they'll open the top from that direction (and maybe a bit sooner than usual) this year.

I think the convention wisdom is based on making the mountain ready for families.

Getting the darkside open doesn't really add as much terrain as sunway/quicksilver etc. East side with two hs chairs and all.

Disclaimer: just blowing it out my a$$.

Once again here we go with the keyboard warriors telling us about how the mt should open...
Just pray for snow ;) ⛷️

I'd go to WF. Bars are way fun in saranac lake and lake placid. Food is excellent in both places as well. Hit saranac lake for the Belvedere, place is the bomb. Great bar, better dining room and food.

My thinking is more Wood In + Darkside Quad as a minimal snow route to get to Straight Brook, vs Uncas and having to blow all of tannery back to TopRidge.

Don't get me wrong, Gore is my favorite ORDA mountain when it's in full force, but to me it's not worth the dedicated trip and extra driving until the upper mountain gets open.

I also don't fully agree with the prevailing conventional wisdom that Gore is too complicated to get the upper mountain open early - especially now with the new Dark Side chair. The only connecting snowmaking it would require is Wood-In and Cloud, but the direction the last few years has been to get the entire lower mountain and North Woods areas open before really moving up top.
The snow hung well on the Dark Side last spring.
It’d hold better than other pods also in the late fall.
An angle of the sun solstice thingy

I kind of forgot that the lift goes to the top now.

I still think that it's about getting those hs lifts serving families.

Once again, the more sentences start it once again... once again my work is done here.

:D ⌨️

I think that's right. I'd like to see them work on Darkside then Straightbrook before Topridge. AE2>Wood In>HP is a better route to the top than the gondola for a lot of people. Before the pandemic the gondola ran everyday, but AE2 rarely ran on weekdays and opened late on weekdays. For the last 2 years they've started AE2 everyday early. That's way better if you can't ski Foxlair and don't want to ski Ruby, which is a lot of people. It's also better that there's no delay opening AE2 if the gondola shuts down. I hope they keep doing that. It doesn't bother me at all if the gondola doesn't run if the lines are short.
