Given the reputation of Whiteface, there are relatively few people who are beginners or cautious intermediates who would choose Whiteface for a holiday ski vacation. That means the Bear Den greens probably stay relatively calm. Especially compared to beginner terrain that is a shorter drive from NYC or Boston.
Out west, the "expert" ski resorts such as Jackson Hole or Taos have worked hard to convince people that there is good beginner terrain for learning how to ski. That has included building lifts that improve the beginner experience. Meaning not beginner kids but never-ever adults or cautious advanced intermediates over age 50.
Just wondering if they would be tempted to switch over to Hoyt's while they are blowing on Lookout. That would be a great addition to the unexpected, early snowmaking on Wilmington.
