Whistler Blackcomb, BC 2/20 - 2/21/21

There are so many places you can hit besides Whistler. Check out Revelstoke and Kicking Horse..
Kicking Horse is usually deserted and one of the hairiest places you can ski in BC.
Revelstoke is 4000 vertical tree skiing with a back bowl.
Don't limit yourself to Epic next season...explore.....

I definitely plan to! Kicking Horse is one of my favorites. If the border ever opens up, I’m looking forward to Baker.

I'll add a "zoinks" but good that it was worth the wait.

I was wondering why WB "practically IS your list," then I saw that the only other Epicpass ski areas are at the eastern end of British Columbia.
To be honest, I’m just trying to honor the restrictions that are in place. Technically, there’s still a ban on non-essential travel in BC. Folks in the lower mainland are supposed to stick to Crystal, Grouse and Seymour, but I’ve heard they have been super crowded. There is also Sasquatch and Manning Park relatively close by, but as crowded as W/B might be...it’s in a totally different league as far as I’m concerned.

Back to the original topic. I've been to WB several times, I don't think you can go wrong given the amount of terrain available. It is a bit over hyped but for the most part I think it lives up to it. Without a local to show you around it would take you many seasons to figure out where the best terrain is, how to get to it and when to go there.
As for the crowds on the weekend Gondi lines, maybe try hitting Creekside Gondola, gets you to the base of Big Red on the Whistler side then stay up top and explore from there.

Totally agree. W/B is massive and it skis like a mashup of several places I’ve been too. It has a little bit of everything for everyone.

Based on the webcams and conversations I had on the lifts, the weekdays have been significantly slower—so much so that Vail isn’t running the lifts past 3:00. Weekdays might be the best strategy moving forward, especially as the weather moderates and Vancouverites start to bore of winter. W/B with a fraction of the people would be killer.

The dilemma I’m facing is do I go all in on W/B next season? Or do I go local with an occasional trip to the Okanagan or Revy thrown in? Unfortunately, I don’t have the resources to do both, and these passes are terrible for someone who wants to sample a variety of places.

Local hills must be packing snow most of the time right? That type of skiing is fun in the spring but not all year long. I would go all in for one year. You may find ways around crowds. If you don't then you know.
