Where are you skiing this week?

These posts seem like some code I don't understand and it scares me. I'm driving to Colorado Tuesday and am not sure what to expect. Staying at Breckenridge but have a friend that works at A Basin. Hoping to knock out 4 days. Might be in over my head.
Expect to have a good time! It’ll be warm, but you’ll find great spring conditions on whatever kind of terrain suits you. Oh, and the scenery and vibe are really cool.

Note that the Sh@t For Brains stuff, that’s not part of A Basin, it’s backcountry. I know RA has skied it and that’s why I shared the shot, so don’t let that scare you!

As for the rest, hiking, steeps and trees…..thats my jam, so that’s what I share. If cruisers or bumps are someone’s preference they have plenty of that as well.

I will say this, and it’s not code, just simple fact. The East Wall at A Basin is as cool and unique a piece of terrain as you will find anywhere. It’s not for everyone, and if it does nothing more for you than provide a spectacular backdrop that’s plenty fine. However, if you check Type 3 when having your bindings set then consider making the hike, even if it stirs the butterflies. North Pole is usually an easy entrance and is just a difficult black like you’d find many places. There are spicier lines up the North Pole Hiking Gate, but a hike up the shoulder of Little Lenawee peak to bag North Pole and notch your spring East Wall belt….thats some good stuff.

Want a bigger adventure? That’s when you head to Willie’s Wide.

Thanks for all the support. Got some anxiety. I've slowed down as I just took a few years off. I skied A Basin when I was 12 and remember a plaque on a boulder in one of the palli chutes. Maybe I'll see it again.

Thinking one pair of skis, but shorter or longer. Can always try something out there as well.

Trip wasn't supposed to be about skiing, more for my wife to finally go west. Total about 3 to 4 weeks. This one is for her.

Not a better spring scene or place to chill than A Basin. You may find some bumps…lots of bumps…so maybe shorter? Have fun!

Trying to decide on Killington either Wednesday or Friday. Looks like a possibility of some snow, but also very cold on Wednesday. I also don't like that operations have moved to Superstar lift only. When I was there last Tuesday, they had approximately 80 trails and 5 lifts open with plenty of snow. Today's report walked back the upper mountain closure a bit, adding the phrase "at least for now. " Might pay to hold out until Friday if they reopen some terrain.

I'm going with the 165 not the 179. The short ones are more playful even though they have many many days on them. Bonus don't need to scrape and brush the others I can just put them up for summer.

They announced today K1 Gondola to reopen for bonus weekend. They could probably reopen the bubble too, but I think this time of year they lose a lot of their staff and it just doesn't make sense to open them. The coverage was really good on Sunday though.

Thanks, I saw that. Too bad Friday is not included. Although it was never an issue on the trails, there was a decent amount of people there last Tuesday. Disappointing, but there are enough trails off Superstar currently open to make it worth it if I cant make it Saturday.

Related to this, can someone explain how Panic Button is open? Seems to dead end according to the map, but I don't know Killington well enough.

I skied this a few times on Sunday. If you ski past the ski patrol hut near Skyelark and just hang a right you can get to the top of Needles Eye.

Halfway down they opened the old Snow-shed cut over(there's usually a large orange net closing this trail, the trail map doesn't currently show this trail or name it), and then you could skate all the way back to Superstar.

Coverage over in the Needles Eye Area was incredible too. They could have had this open if they had the staff and wanted to waste some money haha

Great, thanks. I took a few runs off the Superstar lift Tuesday but them made my way over to the gondola and North Ridge. Cascade was really nice.

You take a left about 2/3 of the way down towards Needles Eye, and go to Snowshed Crossover, and then cut left coming out across from the bottom of Skylark
