What I've learned since leaving Upstate New York

What I like about western mountain is the size and altitude. You really are waaaaay up there and with so much acreage you have so many options. Since I'm not willing to venture out into deep trees I'm kind of stuck on the runs here mostly..which means that I soon run out of options for the day. But then I just get on a plane and go wherever I want.

It’s a nice nod to the dedication of a serious eastern skier for sure but let’s be honest, 10 inches of fresh on rocks isn’t very cool or something I’ve ever missed.

I ski Plattekill...as a wise local once said, "I ski Plattekill, every pair of skis are rock skis." That and just keep 'em pointed downhill as best you can, prevents edge damage. Bases are easy to repair.

I’m with Marcski. It’s another reason to avoid paying top dollar for your gear. It hurts less to f’ing up $600 then $1k for some reason.
