Not the sexiest mountain the world, but the weather was just too good to not spend an excellent few hours outdoors. I was hoping today would be a Gore day (and I'm sure it was awesome as well) but my schedule didn't work out for a longer drive. Stupid work. And truth be told, if you're looking to get a few turns in, their $30 two hour ticket that includes breakfast or lunch is unbeatable locally. The weather (38 degrees), not a cloud in the sky, was unbeatable. The snow held up nicely and oddly enough, I didn't encounter any ice whatsoever. The edges were filled with excellent snow. Spent most of the day riding the Northwest Apex chair. There were literally 10 cars in the parking lot and the run of the day was AOA. Some trees were skiable but I think most of the glades were roped off. Now my legs are completely shot! Hopefully, a better report next time - but today was really great.

Nice write up! West is sort of like our Bristol Mountain. I'm blow away that you can get a 2 hour pass and a breakfast/lunch for $30. If I could do that weekdays at Bristol I'd start my work day late and go once or twice a week.

OK dumb question: A.O.A. ... stands for?
It usually stands Angle Of Attack, which is an aviation term for the angle at which your wings are oriented. So when the pilot raises the nose to be able to slow down, he is increasing the AOA.

My grandfather (who helped start ski patrol there) always told me it stood for "Ass Over Applecart" because it was always left natural, bumpy, etc. :)

Yuke is that IG pic I linked to above AOA?

Until the wing stalls and falls? Probably what I'd do on the AOA trail :ROFLMAO:

I’m not a pilot but I believe that is a hazard. Also, I think certain aircraft need to avoid certain AOAs because the wings can interrupt airflow to the tail and compromise lateral control.
