Also, I have a pet peeve about holding poles like that. If they are too long then just adjust them!

I believe those poles have two handles, designed to be used that way.

I believe those poles have two handles, designed to be used that way.

They have a lower portion of the grip that is used for the uphill pole when traversing or climbing. I have similar poles.
