Transparency in Snow Reporting

Whistler Blackcomb has been surprisingly transparent with their communication on IG this season. While not as brutally honest as the MRG example, they didn’t sugar coat the rough conditions we had over the holiday break. They’ve also been sharing regular terrain and lift updates—explaining their avalanche control strategy and plans for opening lifts.

I’m not the only one to notice the change. Posts used to be few and far between, focusing on a handful of events for the season intermixed with pretty mountain photos. As was common with Vail owned social channels, the comments were absolutely brutal! Now that they’re providing regular posts with useful updates about terrain and lifts, for once the comments are positive and appreciative.

While I realize W/B is not indicative of Vail Resorts as a whole, my hope is that Broomfield takes notice.

10:15 a.m. update:

Groomers are fun, fast and pure fuego this morning! We're dealing with very low (one-chair) visibility on the upper mountain day. If you don't feel like using echolocation to get around, lower mountain chairs have good visibility and valley views this morning. Cheers!
