Top 3 Best Lifts in NYS?

Late to the party...Hudson, Burnt Ridge and I haven't been to Huntah in a while but there was an F or G lift that noone knew about and never had a line, even on weekends(Sort of like Freeway but I'm probably going back a while).
You're thinking of Lift G. It ran up the Racer's Edge trail, and was, you guessed it, primarily used by racers. It was removed in 1996 when Lift B was upgraded to a quad. It was moved to Hunter East (then called Hunter One) where it operated as the G2 lift until 2013 when it was replaced by a magic carpet.

Thanks for the brain jog. Always wondered why the scantily clad rode that thing just to wait around to go fast at the bottom. Just realized Racers is double black. Didn’t know that when I almost ate shit the last time I flew into that shadowy headwall

Mechanically, it is an awesome lift, however, it really does not serve any skiers and riders well.

No green trails - a HUGE flaw

Only one 'tough when icy' Blue trail that turns into a high speed raceway that then splits into a drainage for Little WF black trails.

Some awesome Black trails off Little WF, but with a long, boring run out below midstation. Are experts going to yoyo the Gondi if the whole mountain is open? I doubt it. It really sucks in the spring when you have to ride a 1/2 mile of leg killing flat slush just to get back on the gondi.

I would not rank this lift anywhere near the top lifts in NY based on the terrain.
Agreed, but I don't think you can expect a lift with that much vertical, and that kind of length, to have a true green trail all the way down. The gondola must be designed to move people from the base area, and the relative novelty of being in a cabin.

Lifts should have green-blue-black ratings. That could help the never-evers from going up the WF gondola....unless they're going without skis to have a view.

Hey Suds, you ever ski Plattekill? Do you come south nowadays?

Whiteface needs take away capacity for green/blue skiers, but the gondola creates a traffic mess on Excelsior. If it went parallel to the Facelift, it would disperse traffic better and be less subject to wind holds. A detachable quad to replace and extend Facelift and a quad to replace Little Whiteface would have been better and cheaper too, but ORDA has a gondola fixation that makes no sense.

I have a pretty radical idea for upgrading Whiteface’s gondola but it tends to make peoples’ heads explode so I’ll keep it to myself

A tunnel to an elevator? Oh, right, they’ve already got one
