Today's Ride

Nice! Where you riding?
It’s the middle of the night there now.
He be near here.

So after Saturday’s run I persuaded my better half to take the Cedar Creek country park bikeway (starting in Wantagh NY) to Jones beach. We are 5 miles into a 10 mile round trip. Really a peaceful bike ride with some nice water views. Sadly a bit of trash.

Taking our break near where I grabbed the pretzel this past weekend, on Zach’s bay overlooking jones beach theatre.

I was curious enough to check: the bikeway from Cedar creek over rhe bay and then the length of Jones island ending at captured state park is 20 miles one way.

Significant points are:
- Cedar Creek park
-Jones beach state park (5 miles in, some year round bathrooms)
-today beach (9 in)
-gilgo beach (? In)
-captree state park as eastern terminus (20 miles in)

We're on vacation and camping on Association Island in Henderson, NY.

I did the ride from Association Island out to Sackets Harbor today.

Beautiful sunshine but lots of wind, especially on the island, with rain expected later in the afternoon.

Roads are super smooth without much traffic at all, just what I like.

Drove back out to SH with wife and dogs to walk around the battlefield, picked up a four pack of Helles Bells Lager and a sixer of Route 11 Lager from Sackets Harbor Brewery.

Association Island is small, and is this campground in its entirety.

We are on the sunset side, but the sunrise side is only about few hundred yards away.

Last day at Sun Outdoors Association Island.

Rode 5 out of the 6 full days we've been here, got in a total of about 155 miles and this area is fantastic for riding.

Smooth, quiet country roads with little traffic, vehicles go way wide to pass.

40 miles today, including some trails at Robert G. Wehle Sate Park.

Yesterday the wind was unrelenting...today much.

The day started with the moon...

Two rides on Thursday.

First, I stitched together a couple of routes into one 30 mile ride with almost 3,200' of climbing.

I was disappointed to see Texas Hill Road has been chip sealed, it was a fantastic dirt road before.

In the afternoon, I loaded up the bikes for a short ride on the Harlem Valley Rail Trail with my wife.

We did a couple of laps from Roe Jan Brewing in Hillsdale to Black Grocery Road.

One day the bridge will be re-built across NYS Rt-22 to connect the trail again opening the route from Hillsdale all the way down to Wassaic.

We've had incredibly nice weather, although hardly any rain, around here for the last few weeks.
