Today's Hike

Come spring we would hike up from where we lived in Argentierre to boulder and climb the crags.
Do you remember a place called La Pierre a Bosson? We didn't quite make it there because we started hiking after skiing Grands Montets for a few hours that morning. Still worth the views and time in the woods.

Could see one of the chairlifts, also the new top terminal for the replacement lift that should be completed by 2026.

We used to bushwack around there up the cataracts and terminal moraine fields that lead up to the tongue of the glacier. It has receded immensely. There are photos of it coming all the way down to the valley back in the day. The ski trail with the switchback visible in your first pic, Pierre a Ric, runs along the lateral moraine. You would be under a massive amount of ice and rock from where you took that pic 125 years ago. That chairlift is La Herse. It was a double chair when I was there.

Reminds me of Glacier NP.
Didya ever hike in Glacier NP when ya lived in Montana?
We did a few hikes there awhile back.

Bought my backpack at The Trailhead in Missoula I used later on to hike the AT from Springer Mtn Ga. to near Roanoke. Was about the time when they first opened their store.
