The Vertical Drop Thread

I used to hot lap the upper lift line at MRG during the spring doing mid station loads. I wonder if they still allow it or if there are good days where there’s empties?
I didn't go last year but lapping Chute on those days at MRG were magical...before last year, yes you could load the single at midstation...anyone on last year? Gotta figure way less people...arguably one of the best bump runs in the east

As someone who is pulling up to 40 with back and neck issues - I think 1200 to 1500 ft of continuous, steep, true-up is a sweet spot for me. It's enough to have a nice challenging run (especially in glades, moguls or deep pow), but not so long that you need a break halfway through.

The last time I went out West I skied Jackson top to bottom and could barely walk after. I don't need to "lap" that kind of vertical.

Sweet! To be honest, it’s been so long (93/94 winter) I wasn’t sure if that was a real memory or I made that up.

The Killington double used to have midstation loading in the spring. That could have been in your memory bank, also.
I’ve only skied killington 3 times. The first time was back when the red gondola went full length top to bottom. Actually, all 3 times were the old gondola.

Many foggy memories of hot boxing out of Northeast Passage
There must have been a time where eastern ski areas were competing for the longest top to bottom lift with the most vertical. The killington gondola and gores old gondola both falling into that category of lifts with big numbers on paper but in reality it just doesn’t make sense to ski the area like that.
