The Powder Chaser's Ratio

Was gonna say the same thing. Could be a massive mountain with a single chair and the ratio would be very low, but if the line looks like below then what is the point?

Can someone please explain why they are standing there.

Wasn’t that some kind of logistical breakdown on a powder day last year? Like the lift was the only way to access the fresh snow and took too long to open or something like that?

Is that the infamous line that formed at the end of a big day on Vails backside. I think it was the only ride out of there.

Could also be little old Lab triple last year on a blue bird pow opening day with a 15 minute wait.
Went to the empty rope tow for some hot laps and pulled the plug. There was no point.

I went to mad river after five feet over threedays. Top three powder day. Only got 5 runs. 1+ hour waiting on the singles line wore me down.

That’s a glimpse of what Hell is .
We were told stories of fire and brimstone…. Lies !
A 2’ powder day and a perpetual lift line!

There are subjective factors and extenuating circumstances but the only formula that works is acreage divided by uphill capacity. It needs to be consistent and simple.
This is over a decade old but putting it here for whatever someone else finds for comparative and historical purposes.
