The Indy Pass

FYI PA peeps, Montage no longer Indy
...and they're back.

Looks like Indy added Swain to it’s Learn to Turn list.

Swain also runs Monroe County’s Parks little bumps near Rochester to boot.

Indy Pass sales for 2025-26 will end on Sept. 18.

Donner Ski Ranch in Tahoe is the other notable addition to the Indy list for the USA. The other two American additions are Magic Mountain Resort in Idaho and Leavenworth Ski Hill in Washington.

Apparently the Indy custom plate challenge was far more popular than expected. They decided to cap it at 500. The perk is an Indy+ pass. If someone had already paid for an Indy Pass, that money was refunded.

"License Plate Program Comes to An End
Indy Pass is announcing the conclusion of their “License Plate Club”, launched earlier this summer. In just a few short months, Indy Pass has awarded a free 25/26 Indy Pass to nearly 500 fans across 41 US states and Canadian provinces in exchange for their registration of a custom “Indy Pass” license plate. Many of whom have proudly shared images of their vanity plates in the Indy Passholder’s Facebook Group.

“This program exploded way bigger than we expected”, admitted Erik Mogensen, Indy Pass Managing Director. “The level of dedication and commitment to our cause is evidenced by our amazing passholders, who we truly believe are the best you could ask for. We are grateful for them, and remain focused on our shared vision to support the independent side of skiing."

This craziness has been going on since May 3, 2025.

Jackson Police Chief Chris Perley claimed there were many complaints from neighbors (public drunkeness, noise, pot use, public urination, illegal parking) about Black Mountain's May 3, 2025, end of season ski party. Black Mtn asked to see the report. Perley and the Town of Jackson refused to release the report. Eventually, just prior to a judge forcing the release of the report, the Town of Jackson released the report. As suspected by Black Mtn, there were no complaints from anybody other than Jackson Police Chief Chris Perley. :ROFLMAO:

No wonder they did not want to release the report.

Looks like Indy doesn’t have the same problem as Vail Resorts Inc.
Bidness be good.
Could have something to do with Indy being very clear that they don't want to sell an unlimited number of passes. The number of passes available only goes up when the number of locations increases. Not only runs the risk of overcrowding, the business model of sharing revenue wouldn't be as robust otherwise.

Back when Doug Fish got Indy started, the stretch goal was to get 100 locations. There were 34 in 2019, for $199. By the time the 2022-23 season started, the price was $299 for 94 locations. The count is up to 274 for 2025-26. He sold Indy to Entabeni in March 2023. Always intended to sell. He's still involved for marketing and recruiting new locations.

Black Mountain

Thanks to the heroic efforts of the entire team, we will open for our 91st season of skiing at Black Mountain tomorrow, Saturday, November 15th. We are making a statement that this little mountain and everything that it stands for is back and better than ever.

Opening day will be limited to Black Mountain’s Season Pass holders and Indy Pass holders. Season Passes are available for sale online and on-site tomorrow. Indy passes remain sold out.

The lodge opens at 7:30 AM, and the Summit Double will load at 7:45 AM, making Black Mountain the first ski area to open in New Hampshire, edging out our friends at Bretton Woods by a mere 90 minutes. Are we making a statement? You bet.

Skiers and riders will load the Summit Double and ride to the Summit, making turns back down to the mid-station on the Upper Maple Slalom trail. After the first run, skiers will load from the mid-station for additional laps and will download to the base area when they are done making those early-season turns. This early-season open is for advanced skiers and riders, and will not be groomed. Rentals and Ski School are not quite ready.

The bar is ready. We will have it open all day, with food options served from 10 AM to late. At 3 PM, the Scott Baer band will light up the base lodge, and we will celebrate the sport and culture of skiing with the gatherings we have become famous for.

Black is back!

Thanks for being here.
