That August Itch

Anyone else getting that August itch yet? I’m not talking about the poison oak I have all over me right now but I’m referring to the upcoming season excitement. I just went into our storage closet to grab something and saw my new skis that I barely got to ski last season which gave me my first jab of stoke.

I’m not in a rush for winter but I know I’ll definitely be skiing this year as long as I can remain injury free. The last two years have been tougher than usual as far as that goes. I’m trying to find my new place and contentment with gearing down a level or two. Pain sucks!

So……feeling it yet?

As soon as nights get colder, I start to think about it. And nights are getting colder.

This year, I’m going to do something I haven’t done in 22 years (go skiing in the summer) and something I haven’t done for 18 year (go skiing in New Jersey). That should hold me over until October.

Do a trip report!

Walked past an open oven at work this morning and the heat actually felt good. Definitely a sign of things to come.

I was thinking the same . Maybe take a day off and hit it early with youngest kid.
Any tips?

go with low expectations, and beer! Enjoy the surreal nature of the experience. At the end of ski season a few ski friends talked about going once a month just to say we ski'd all year, never did.

If you're going with your kid you'll have a good time

What Gorgonzola said… but then lower your expectations even more. I have skis in my garage that I haven’t skied yet and I figured they’d be my motivation to go back at least once this summer. So far it has not been enough inspiration. And I live a little more than a half hour from the place.
