Sweet Cars and Trucks

Hammer down --- $82,500 --- SOLD

Friday was the Auction's 44th Anniversary sale, that's why Richard Petty was there. I must say this guy was a true gentleman. We all waiting in line to get out picture taken with him along with get autographed hats and t-shirts. All that was great, but what impressed me most about this dude is how genuinely nice he is. He gave everyone at least one minute of his time to chat us up, ask our names, and was happy to meet everyone who waited in line for him. He's one cool cat.

Such a cool car, the MGB GT. This one spotted locally, likely a ‘66 and is right hand drive .

^^ my neighbour has one of those sitting in the forest, along with a collection of other other cars like Mustand IIs, a Dodge Lazer, various Chevy pickups and a 60s GMC pickup that he is actually working on.

Seen in Old Forge: a mint Citröen DS21. Timeless design. Like the 1959 Cadillac Eldorado, a pinnacle of midcentury modern design.

If I had stupid money and wanted to collect cars, this would be on the short list along with an Alfa Romeo Tipo 105/115.

The DS21 was way ahead of its time technically. Hydropneumatic suspension, 4 wheel disc brakes, and power steering. On paper, they were underpowered. But the DS had such a low coefficient of drag that the motor was just fine.
