The ID.Bus or the old school 23-window Microbus are the only minivans I'd want to own. ID.Bus = not my tax bracket.

Yesterday, I spotted this bad boy in LP. Steyr-Daimler-Puch manufactured the Pinzgauer 712, in Austria. Off-road, super mobile, all six wheels are driven. In 2000, manufacturing rights were sold to an English company. Unsure what year this one is.

The Mercedes Benz W460 (military predecessor of the G-class luxury SUV) was also originally manufactured by Steyr-Daimler-Puch.

Oddly enough, the only other one of these I've seen in the flesh metal was down in Keene, 20 years ago.

The Electric Micro Bus/ID Buzz was first seen in North America in 2017. It did not go into production for North America until 2024. I remember liking it and thinking that it might sell as long as they price it right. Because VW took so long to get the ID Buzz to market they lost all the positive momentum they had in the late 20 teens (2017/2018/2019). As the years tick by and the costs go up, the people who might have been interested in a Buzz have moved on.

This should be priced in the mid $40k range (instead of the $60-$70k range) to compete with all those mid-range Kia/Toyota/Honda/Hundai/Nissan/Ford/GM SUVs that inhabit every k-8 school driveway. This thing cannot compete with the BMW/Audi/MB/Big GM/Lexus/Infiniti SUVs that inhabit the higher price point where it currently sits.
Morons.
