Sunday River, ME: 1/29-30/22

Thanks yea it was a really nice mountain. Tons of terrain. It also had some of the most impressive slope side lodging and real estate I’ve seen. Didn’t snag any pics unfortunately. One weird thing I noticed was that only 1 of their lifts had any feet rests. I found that odd, never saw that before. Oh and the “chondala” was a first, a half chair half gondola hybrid lift.
At least there is a safety bar. Out west there are still plenty of lifts without that either.

A chondola is really nice for families with young kids. Also useful in the summer. I like having the choice of taking off skis and being warm or keeping skis on and riding a chair.

Les Otten of American Ski Company was the grand planner behind the early development of Sunday River. Didn't work in the long run to depend on real estate sales for profits. Boyne Resorts has taken a much more long term view since they took it over in 2007.

I wish haha. I think I saw someone flying down white heat way off in the distance even though it was just rock and ice. Coulda been the legend himself.
He’s back at it with a new trick.
