Spring Skiing?

1. Mud and grass is going to be much, much slower, so you will have to adjust to it pushing your upper body forward (so leaning back sounds like a great tactic - think about when you are on a train or in a car and you come to a stop - your body still wants to go forward. Physics I say : ) ).
p=mv. Momentum equals mass times velocity. For me that means the older I get the more I have to be in the back seat, even if I'm going the same speed as last year. <insert fat sack of crap emoji>.

For the record, I’m not suggesting anyone in particular ski on grass, rocks or mud…

I almost never ski on rocks on purpose but I am happy that I am proficient on them when I do. Learned how to ‘ski’ death cookies the hard way. Option 1 avoid. Option 2 in skis w decent early rise ski in balance and ski it like a rock (good independent leg balance).

An A$penite wrote something about corn snow.
"A spring “base structure” and a bit of wax work wonders. I’ve tried everything, including candle wax, Pledge lemon fresh furniture wipes, Armor All, olive oil and WD40 on the bases of my skis so they don’t stick. I even considered rubbing mayonnaise on the bottom of my skis once, but something stopped me."

One of the boys had a banana peel in his fanny pack yesterday.
Told him he should use to speed up his bases, Everybody know they’re slippery.

How did you not get completely stuck in the mud in between snow patches?

As with most things in life, speed and confidence.

It also helped that the patches were smaller in the morning and I kept skiing them as they got larger and larger. Those skis hadn’t been waxed in awhile and the wet dirt and grass wasn’t a whole lot slower if any than the snow. The skis, although my rock skis, sustained no base or edge damage. I think the water acts as a lubricant

There was a group of young guys flying across 20-30 yd grass patches a la candide at platty yesterday lol!

There was a 1/2 “ of lake effect on the dirt on one of the last days at Song.
Kids were having fun hitting the “pow" on top of the dirt, grass and round rocks running down left of the lift.
Skiing is fun.

Ha, I just commented on that in the Platty conditions thread. Hard to feel bad for the kid (I hope none of them were out of their teens) who hit a rocky patch and had a full yard sale, and face planted in the grass/dirt. This kid straight lined 60 or 70 yards right of Face before said biff.
