I'm not referring to vehicles, yet time will ultimately tell us there as well.

I can't stand our countryside being used for these turbine farms and solar farms. I'd much rather look at trees and fields. Heck, most local governments and residents are against them and don't want them. When state and federal government starts to push an idea, I get very skeptical.
The town I live in doesn't allow solar farms. A buddy of mine is trying to get one put in on some of his property. They won't approve it and I say good for them.

I will be picking your brain regarding roof solar panels. I'm about 2ish years away from putting an addition on my house. I'm curious to see if roof mounted solar panels would benefit me. My gut tells me we don't get enough sun for it to be cost effective. I say this because so few people around my area. I'd guess if it makes sense there would be more.

Yeah man PM me or Harv can send you my cell. While it is sad, I don't have any big trees around my house, and I have east and west good roof lines. That is good. Best is south facing and no trees.

Also, if you are not at the point on knowing what it will be exactly you could take south facing aspect into account.

Two core pieces of information is whether each panel has an inverter (that is good as if the panel has a problem with the inverter you can just pop out the panel to replace) and what the warranties cover (usually the panels for 30 and inverter for 10 - you will also want warranty to cover the manpower of doing the work).

I'm going with a PointGuard string inverter. I think the industry is moving away from micros. Many points of failure that all involve someone getting up on the roof, and you are tied to a specific generation of software and hardware. Imagine having to source something running on Windows 95 today. With bi pass diodes you don't get the Xmas lights effect anymore. Yes you lose a little bit of efficiency in shading


I'll let you know how it all goes. Waiting for it to all be installed.

Also I've read that even if your EV is powered by coal it's still greener then an ICE car because the power plant is so much more efficient at converting dino juice to energy then a car engine and everything that happens before it gets into your tank
