Was skiing at Gore today and it was a bit chilly. Probably around 10F at saddle. I was wondering how they are able to start a new pipe, to carry the water to the guns without the steal pipes flash freezing the water when initially starting the snow making process. The steel pipe is out in the elements and at times buried in snow. I would imagine the second water hits the pipe it will freeze. I have a similar problem at my camp when I come up gor a ski weekend and turn on the water. Most of the fun is apex but some elbows and valves are copper and freezes the water instantly. It sometimes takes hours to heat the place up enough for the water to start to glow. Always a tense couple of hours.
