Skiing in Venezuela and Hungary

Third time I've watched that video of the Venezuelan guy. Downright painful to watch. I see zero evidence of aerobic training and I'd be curious to know how many times he was on snow before this.

That vid is from the 2017 World Championships in Lahti. He had to compete in a qualifier there in order to get a start in the 15 km men's race. He didn't finish the qualifier.

IDK where he trained, but these modern World Cup courses are gonna school ya.

Swany proved that women’s freeski halfpipe should not be an Olympic sport. The series of events leading up to the Olympics only had about 30 regular competitors. Because she had time and money she qualified. That is absurd. I do not blame Swany, either. She followed the rules.

Yup.
It’s harder to decipher the official terminology let alone the rules.

Down where? Venezuela? Their Olympian skier sure as shit don't rip ?

This ain't the Olympics.. it's a qualifying race to see if he gets a start in the 2017 World Championships . I hate to be a buzzkill, but he didn't. Can't figure out why.

I love this guy. The stones to participate, the ability of me to relate to him.....this guy is somewhere between Borat and a beer guy, slow pitch playing middle age desk jockey.

the ability of me to relate to him
Right in the beginning when he pulls up to the start, the starter gives him a little push and he leans back and flails his arms. Anyone who has tried XC skiing knows that feeling. I’m the king of that move. Must be a name for it. Maybe the “Nordic wave”.

It might not be an olympic event yet but give grass skiing time.
Grass skiing looks like it could be a contender in the future.
No snow making needed either

It’s FIS sanctioned. Looks like it's fun and a lot like skiing.
I remember watching people do that at Mt. Storm when I was a kid. No one was hauling ass like that though. Taking a digger at those speeds would suck. They could use a new sponsor.

Helmets a must along with pads. Grass colored clothes that slide well would help.
No rocks and/or animal holes helps the vibe.
Good mowers too.
