Looks awesome jwx, now I want Pho for lunch! Is Viet Nam the new popular travel destination like Iceland was a few years back? I ran into friends last night that just got back from a ten day trip with a tour group

It’s been a hot destination for years. Aside from the air fare it’s redic cheap.
We were staying 5 star. Current place cost 350 for 2 rooms 2 nights including crazy breakfast.
We are not on a tour. Except for some day trips where you have no choice but to hire a guide

Nice! I hope you have a fun/meaningful trip. I've been to Hanoi. I've never seen anywhere in the world that's as difficult to navigate. If you go to bigger cities like Bangkok or Mumbai, it's crazy of course, but there's an internal logic which an observant traveller can pick up with some effort. That is not true in Viet Nam. There is no logic whatsoever. Almost every single street is one lane. But in that one lane you have buses, cars, motorcycles, bicycles, and pedestrians...going both ways. There doesn't appear to be any such thing as right-of-way. There are no navigable sidewalks, as the shopkeepers take them over. Walking 10 blocks is exhilarating and exhausting. I hope you'll keep us updated!
I’m now in Hanoi
Holly crap this is the most insane place I have seen.
