Recommendations for the Last Week of December

Good point. I was focused on the storm coming and the storm before xmas. But since I have been going up xmas week (since 2019?) I don't think any trees have been open that week. I think the variety point still holds.
I'm just saying we don't know wgo (no offense intended) and he's never been to gore. He might see some tracks and follow.

Great, thanks for the replies! I appreciate the guesses on what Gore will have open. Let me put it this way: how much would a partially open Gore have to have open to make it worthwhile, compared to a fully open Belleayre?

We do not have lodging yet - I will try to lock that down once we decide where to go. Lakes George if we do Gore - where do people look for lodging when they go to Belleayre?

As far as skiing level goes - we enjoy a challenge. I have not done much in the NE but a few years back we enjoyed Superstar at Killington (early season, not much else was open). A bit further south, White Lightning at Montage was fun and something that we could ski well.

Thanks again!
For Gore, there are advantages to staying in North Creek. More options in Lake George but a bit of a drive. I've stayed at the Best Western that's right next to the highway.

I think you made a good choice going to Gore instead of Belleayre. Helps to go somewhere that requires a bit more driving during a busy period.

No offense taken! I have a good sense of when it is safe to start poking around in the trees at my local area, I would be cautious when going to a new area for the first time. I'll probably check to see if there are any recent trip reports when we head up (looking to ski on the 28th and 29th).

Also, just to clarify - a couple things will have to line up down here for this trip to happen. Hopefully Gore will not reach capacity limits if and when I am able to buy the lift tickets.

Thanks MarzNC - good to talk to ya over here as well!

Do Gore and Belle have capacity limits?
Not right now at least according to the group sales rep at Belle. Was calling for a Scout trip. They are limiting groups on weekends (said no to scouts for that reason) but at this point no limits. He was clear that it is possible that limits could happen at some point but I took that as a reasonable CYA statement.

Welp,

It's been awhile since I posted to this thread. As I had feared, life got in the way and my son and I were not able to make it up north over the holiday period. we had to content ourselves with a couple days at some hills closer to home. Hopefully we can make it up at some point during the season.
