Prospect Mountain, VT: 2/2025

My splitboard to resort board riding ratio has taken a dramatic turn this year. Only stepping onto a ski lift one day so far, I’ve made it a point to explore a wider variety of foot powered riding zones while we have the snowpack to support it...
One guy had to be pushing 80 and was lapping the place on a splitboard like I’ve never seen. I’m not sure why, but it feels rarer to see guys at that age riding over skiing. He was filled with the stoke of a 20 year old though!

@Harvey Prospect's lodge is at 2200 feet. Highest base lodge elevation in the east. By contrast I think Mt van Hoevenberg is ~1700 or so.
The elevation was easy to find. The snowfall not so much. Using numbers from the nearby alpine areas makes sense.

That man did 4 laps easy, possibly more!
Somebody said to me the other day "my retired friends are in way better shape then my almost retired friends."

Old vs old and skis every day.

I'm not there yet!

Nice T6, thanks for the report!

I'm feelin ya on this one. Where have you been?

For me, 21 days this year, 8 purely nordic, plus 2 days where I skied in our woods after a morning at Gore. Next year I'm anticipating more true BC nordic.

Got some early season uphilling at Platt, Bearpen, couple days up in the Jay BC, now Prospect. Definitely the most variety I've got on the split in one season already and no end in sight! It's been many years since the natural cover has allowed for consistent days touring without copping a core shot. Skiers might not mind thin cover with potential rock ski options but I only have 1 splitboard.
