There’s nothing better than being alone with the mountain and a friend or two. When we heard that Plattekill’s double chair wouldn’t be operational in time to serve us the goods this past weekend, it was both sad to hear but also a blessing. There aren’t many opportunities to catch runs as pure as what was on offer. Some would say putting in a bit of work to reap the rewards makes it that much sweeter.

Breaking the legs in by walking up powder puff all day wasn’t the easiest warmup for the season, especially for the few brave souls boot packing, but that’s the price of admission sometimes.

As one of my buddies put it: “You could ride a snow shovel down those trails today and it’d still be amazing.”

It was hard to imagine leaving this place to chase snow somewhere else. There’s a general rule that you don’t leave good snow to chase good snow, but some lift rides wouldn’t hurt. Magic isn’t a bad consolation either.

Thanks @Brownski ! Hard to believe that was this year. It almost seems like a distant dream. Looking like a completely skunked January is possibly in the cards. My browser is now filled with open tabs searching for flights and resort intel etc for a western mission. Brian head and eagle point have really caught my eye with dirt cheap flights to Vegas.
