Plattekill Opening Weekend 2025

[Brownski]

Plattekill's season starter feels like a homecoming or a family reunion at this point. And this year's first day was one for the books.

Me and Junior were on the schedule for Sunday but we didn't want to miss the first day so we got a motel reservation and drove up Saturday morning.

There was a ton of snow on the ground. Everybody was smiling

We got a new patrol building on the Triple side

Lots of work to do. All kinds of stuff had to be marked with bamboo but first the bamboo needs popsicles

Safety fence needed to go up

I spent most of the weekend skiing of course... I forgot to take pictures while actually skiing though

Sweep on Saturday

We got some more snow overnight. First run on Sunday was silky smooth. Insert the annual powder eight joke here

Late in the day on Sunday I remembered to take some pics of Junior skiing

It was awesome seeing everybody. A couple guys said hi while I was distracted by patrol shit so sorry if I didn't fully engage. Good stuff all around

At one point, me and Junior and another patroller were standing under the lift admiring our tower pad installation and somebody called out to me from the lift “hey are you Brownski from the Doublechair?” I attributed it to my awesome distinctive mustache but maybe he just recognized my voice. Very life affirming moment though.
