Friday, I was back and forth, watching forecasts, radar and webcams, confering with @ThatNYSkier on the question of the day.

Royal or Plattekill?

Royal was 96% open before the overnight snowfall, including all their glades. And it was 90 minutes closer to home for me.

Plattekill was forecast for more snow, but according to all reports was falling on a minimal natural base.

But then again, Plattekill is Plattekill.

It is my home away from home. Plus Roman was texting all night predicting EPIC.

I set an alarm for 3:30, conferred one last time with Ski or Die NY. Plattekill it was.

Mandatory Route 30 shot

I'd left most of an hour extra to account for slow driving on snow covered roads. It wasn't nearly enough. Shooting for a 7:30 arrival, I landed in Roxbury at 8:15. I booted up, snagged my seasons pass from (Thank you!) Shannon and headed out to get in line.

First I was not, maybe 30th.

first-on-twist

An amazing piece of good fortune, Number 2 on Patrol called me out to help load a sign on to the chair. Apparently that's Patrol Code for WOO HOO!

twist

When was that last time you dropped something so delicious you just couldn't believe it? For me that day was today.

twist - 1

Out of body

I did three laps on Twist, almost completely untracked.

The trees were not exactly ready, but it didn't stop me much. 🤠

This cut up stuff makes me want to tele. Must. Resist.

I was skiing alone. I decided to ski Plunge hoping that someone (Riley) would find me from the lift.

Even after it was all cut up, the skiing was excellent.

My phone rang, it was Storm @Stu.

"You here man?"

I skied until 2:45, a far longer day that anything I've put up so far.

Great day, if I'm not incredibly sore tomorrow, I'll call it a 100% success.

So great to ski the bumps on Twist with you today, Harvey. Who says there’s no friends on a powder day?! Hope there’s more to come this season.
