Maybe the wrong thread but I’ve found that open snow is generally accurate in places where it actually snows. For us here that means from about killington north or even from Stowe north. For the Catskills I wouldn’t trust it.

If I am on the edge of my seat (and I am right now), I'm watching the point forecasts for the mountains, and reading the NWS ALY forecast discussion, that is updated at 4pm and 4am every day.

4pm Update to Plattekill point forecast is a bit colder than this am:

This map (GFS) has also creeped south, Platty on the edge of greatness.

On the other hand the ALY forecast discussion is talking about a delay in the secondary low formation, not good.

18z gfs is pretty interesting I must say. Even with mixing, if it turns fluffy at any point during the wee morning hours that’ll make for a deeper than advertised type of day.

Unfortunately, Plattekill point forecast looks worse than yesterday, with non-snow most of the overnight, not changing back until 6am:

Friday
A chance of snow, mainly after 4pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 33. North wind 6 to 11 mph becoming southeast in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Friday Night
Snow, freezing rain, and sleet before midnight, then freezing rain and sleet between midnight and 5am, then snow, freezing rain, and sleet after 5am. Low around 26. Breezy, with a southeast wind 17 to 24 mph, with gusts as high as 36 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Little or no ice accumulation expected. New snow and sleet accumulation of around 5 inches.

Saturday
Snow, mainly before 1pm. High near 31. East wind 7 to 16 mph becoming northwest in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 80%.
