Passes for 21/22

Yep, independents have flexibility.

Well yes and no. John Meier certainly can do it, but he's giving away his own money.

At EPIC there's a different math, they are thinking about the precedent. If we do that for X then we have to do it for everyone. Which I guess yea, could impact the Rob Katz bonus.

At Greek, John is probably thinking Camp spends more in Trax than a stinking season pass every year anyway. Maybe he even knows he buys a pass every year too.

While hunting this year I came to the realization that I won't be able to use my pass this year. Knee is shot, oh well, shit happens and I'll be getting a new knee in April. Anyway, I transferred my pass to a kid in need who's on Travis MacDowell's CNY Freeride Team

I share this not because I'm the one who gave this kid a pass (I may do one every year), rather to recognize that this wouldn't have happened at every ski area. In the days of corporate ski area ownership, it's important AF to recognize the independents. Greek Peak is owned by John and Christine Meier, they're local, passionate, driven, giving, and cool. If it wasn't for that I know this wouldn't have happened. Long live Greek Peak!!!
sorry to hear about the knee, man

Thanks, guys. My doc told me the day would come when I couldn't take the pain anymore, and it's here. Time for titanium!!! I've only ever had one surgery before (same knee) and dreaded it. I can't wait to have this one!!!! LOL
I'll brace it up for one more snowmobile season then get it done just in time to watch the Masters during my recovery time. A man's gotta have a plan.

Good luck Camp, sending positive vibes.

I get the sense that the medicine and the materials continue to get better.

My point was more about who makes the management decision, not where the money comes from. I understand Camp has a special relationship to Greek. As I do for the managers at Massanutten.

There is a backstory that's unique for all of the "independent" or "old school" ski areas/resorts that have survived the last few decades.

Exactly. One thing Greek Peak does is support those who support them. John's support to the locals is second to none. The dude is a very, very busy business man, yet took the time to handle my concern pronto.
