I know geology is a "living" science but I don't think it operates on that time scale
I think they are younger than the Appalachians but I’m pretty sure Rumor is steeper cause your legs are older than the ones you skied on 25 years agoI’m pretty sure they’re still rising. That’s why Rumor seems steeper than it was 25 years ago.

How long before Gore hits the advertised vert?Uplift started happening 10-20 million years ago, making the mountains younger than the Appalachians (even though the rocks are older… from the Grenville Orogeny, I believe, which predates the Appalachian mountain building events).
And yes, they are still rising.
