ORDA Discount For NY Residents?

I haven't looked into their uphill policies. What's the deal?

I guess it makes sense that most of the folks skiing at these places are NYS Residents. But they could throw us a bone to make it feel like we are getting something back. If Cannon can do it in the Live Free Or Die state, ORDA should be able to do it here
This is what I know: State owned, but no exercise allowed!

You don't need to ask him. Just hang out with him for a beer, and he will let er rip.

Chip Seamans, Windham President, quoted here on that very topic:

What a surprise that, 8 years later, as predicted, there is zero happening at Belleayre . It just shows that all the hand wringing was for nothing. Words are cheap.

$74,000,000 - go big or go home when you are bullshytting the people.

"Zero happening at Belleayre"? Dude I was there 2 years ago and they were putting the finishing touches on a beautiful brand new lodge. After the avalanche last year, I would expect another major improvement soon...

Zero of the big development plan.

Rebuilding 50 year old lodges 20 years too late and replacing that 40 year old double double 10 years too late is not part of the big development. Most ski areas do this kind of maintenance/upgrades in a timely manner. ORDA rarely does this stuff in timely manner. They usually wait until the bailing wire and bubble gum stop working.

Call me when they connect Belleayre to Highmount. They have had that approval for years.

It is odd, that they seemed to push hard for it, and it never happened. Except for the gondi.

It makes so sense to me. The developer put a lot of effort into the approvals, from what I could tell.

The gondola did not happen in a vacuum. Think back on how it all came down. The timing especially.

TBH that was my first time at Bellayre. I thought the new lodge and gondola were nice. But this was early season during a warm spell with limited terrian available.

I started this thread to ask a specific question about ORDA, not to rag on them. I don't want to sound like an ORDA Fanboy. I just want to be able to ski decent mountains at a reasonable rate. Surely there are things ORDA could be better at. But I think that deserves it's own thread...

Just my 2¢ ?

Many of us have been skiing at WF/Gore/Belleayre since long before ORDA existed. There is a lot of long term baggage as the years pile on. Most of what happens is barely related to what the Unit Management Plans show. The money comes in fits and starts.
