I worked course maintenance today for the Broadalbin-Perth Invitational race at Oak, and got in some free skiing too. It was my first Oak skiing in 6 years, which really surprised me. A fairly firm granular surface early became very much a spring skiing day with some periods of sun, some showers, and even a few rumbles of thunder. There was plenty of cover on the main snowmaking trails I skied: Sacandaga, Oak Mountain Run (during and after the race), Ryan's, and Kunjamuk. I only made one run down a natural trail, The Thing, which had some bare spots but was skiing really nicely for the weather situation.
