Oak Mountain Conditions

Oak has a bot! I asked a question, got a fantastic? answer!

Hello! How can I assist you today?

How much snow is in the trees?

Ah, the age-old question: how much snow is hiding in the trees, plotting its next powdery ambush? While I can't give you a snowflake count in the trees themselves, I can tell you the mountain's base snow depth ranges from 12 to 28 inches with packed powder conditions on the trails. So, the trees are probably rocking a cozy white blanket too! For the freshest scoop on snow conditions and trail status, check out the snow report here: https://oakmountainski.com/the-mountain/snowreport. Time to get your snow dance on and maybe bring a snow shovel—just in case those trees decide to share! ⛷️❄️🌲

I skied oak on 1/1/26 with my granddaughter. Trails were in good shape and crowds were light.
The whole process was very pleasant. We arrived late, 9:45, but we still parked close to the lodge. No lines to get tickets or rentals. Light crowds were great for a nervous novice.

I've been at Oak most of the day while my daughter is out tagging along for some race training with the Oak Mountain team. Her school team has its first race of the season here tomorrow (it's the team's home mountain and Oak owner Matt O'Brien is one of the school team's coaches). I didn't ski today but will be on skis tomorrow afternoon/evening assisting with the race. My daughter says the snow wasn't great but it's been snowing hard for a while now and things look a lot better. Looks to me like they had a decent turnout for the day after an overnight rainstorm.

I made my debut as a race gatekeeper this afternoon at Oak, which allowed me to make 1 run down Sacandaga and the top of Oak Mountain Run to get to my position, then about 2 hours later, finished up my run. Oak has a lot of snow and the conditions on Sacandaga were really nice. I wish I had been able to get there early enough to take a few runs because Ryan's Run looked and sounded great from the lift on my one ride up too.

Great afternoon skiing at Oak today, after a nice lunch at the Acorn when we arrived. It was very busy and lift lines were about 5 minutes most of the time. Lots of nice packed powder, though, with Kunjamuk and I think everything left (going up) of the chair open. This was the first time I can recall being at Oak when any glades were open and I skied parts of TNT twice and it was good. I couldn't get a good look at the TLP glades and none of our group was interested in joining me so I didn't try it. Fifth Avenue was my clear run of the day. Our visiting friends had a good time tubing.

I'll be at Gore tomorrow for the high school race, but not sure yet if I'll buy a lift ticket.
