It’s actually our native trumpet vine Campsis radicans. The flowers can be seen in the upper right corner. The leaflets are very similar to wisteria. I would caution anyone planting either one as they can become extremely invasive. They should be planted near concrete or where the suckers can be mowed to keep them in check. There are several different types of wisteria. The American variety, Wisteria frutescans is known to be less aggressive and would be preferred.
Right? I’ve been thinking the same way lately. Junior is starting grad school and DB is off to college too this fall. I can’t believe I’m on the verge of part time empty nesting. It is cliche to say but damn it goes by fast.
