Well, made it to Hunter today for day one. Knew it was going to be crowded, because reservations sold out yesterday. Started out bad, when some asshole Russian parked his massive pickup truck so close to my driver's side I could barely get out, and, when I protested, he was all, da, luuk how people pahk here? Left him a souvineir. Then they funneled all these people through the ticket tunnel for security reasons, which was ridiculous. First virus danger zone. Already some were maskless. Then, a half hour wait at the six pack at the bottom. That wasn't fun. Thought that would be my only run, as I watched the line get longer, but the lift (sorry, forgot the name) that deposits you at the top on the skiers left was running, with a shorter wait. Did four runs off of that in really good, natural snow. Surprisingly fun. The kooks were easy to avoid. So, about four hours of standing in line and skiing. Saturday on Friday.
The lodge has some sort of reservation system to get into. I think the bar was closed, thank God. The bathrooms looked really dangerous, I peed like a bear in the woods.
So, when all the lifts are running, and they get natural, it should be fun midweek. As always, avoid Saturdays like you would an ex wife.
Here's a pic of the six pack waiting line at 10am. Fun.
