New Gore Trail

No issues with it being too flat. It was just a major choke point going from the 60 foot wide Backwoods to the 20 foot wide Paradox.
They at least named it correctly.
"a seemingly absurd or self-contradictory statement or proposition that when investigated or explained may prove to be well founded or true."
A narrow trail with little or no traffic is fun,
with too many folks it’s a dang shitshow.

Tried this on Friday and loved it. My 2 cents FWIW is to leave it as is. The new trail gives Burnt Ridge an outstanding trifecta along with Sagamore and Echo, but the whole section has its drawbacks which will always keep it from getting overcrowded. If you can deal with the long traverse and sketchy bottom half of Pipeline/Paradox your reward is 3 long and outstanding trails serviced by a high speed lift with almost zero lines!
The only caveat here is I ski Gore almost entirely midweek and Echo is still my favorite trail and is almost always available (once its been opened). Weekends definitely change the equation when Echo is closed for racing, but lapping Sagamore and Backwoods for an hour or two is still an outstanding way to start or finish your day IF its not crowded.

They should have had a cam on me. I'd arc that sucker, big time.
I'd get there first, it would be all cord, with no one in front of me.
Ya’d have to wait awhile these weakdays.
Tain’t been open since Sunday and now this Wednesday morning.

The Burnt Ridge Quad will have a delayed opening for maintenance; please check back for updates."

Personally I really like the new trail and being a Thursday there was no issue at the bottom when it got narrow. We never waited more than two groups of people for any lift today

Backwoods is intended to add an easy route, but it leads to Pipeline, which has all the elements that intimidate skiers with less than perfect skills. It's narrow, there's a rock wall on skiers' right and a drop off on the left, there's long flat spots and icy steep spots and guys like Cork me doing 40MPH trying to glide through the flat spot at the end. I like Gore because of all the weirdness of it, but whoever thought that it should be a ski resort must have been smoking crack.

The new trail is OK but not worth the damage to Barkeater. OTOH maybe we'll ski upper Barkeater more often now that all that snowmaking is there.

mm

I got on Backwoods for the first time on Wednesday. Like a big, long Tahawus, which is not a bad thing, but it’s not worth the price of tearing the heart out of Barkeater glade.
The length of Barkeater, Trail 11M, according to the UMP, is 1925 feet.
The length of Tahawus is 4184 feet.
It's more like a short Tahawus to what appears to be the squirrely funneled intersection(s) onto the Paradox?-Eagles Nest Crossover or elsewhere.
If it ain’t crowded or icy it should be fine and fun.

Does anybody know what the designation for the Paradox trail is in any of the UMP’s?
Looks like it's an Eagle’s Nest Crossover thingy

..."Gore has seven mountain areas that offer the most terrain in New York State and 2,537 feet of vertical. It is also home to the Slides which is some of the steepest and most difficult on the East Coast."

& Whiteface ain't mentioned.🤡
