Mom and Pop Style Mountains

Here's how Bryce celebrated the start of the season. Tiny hill on the Indy Pass a couple hours from Washington DC, mostly interstate highway. There are regulars who are private pilots who can make use of the tiny airport that's right next to the slopes. Opened in the 1960s. Great for families. Strong racing program as I understand it.

A somewhat recent podcast, “Small is the New Big"
Managers met at the Ski Areas of New York and Pennsylvania Expo at Holiday Valley Resort in New York to talk about the upcoming season.

I have been trying to get to the “fairly local to me” community run ski areas over the last few years.

The Kanc Recreation Area in Lincoln, NH: ~200 vert, rope tow, night skiing, lots of HS race team training when I have been there.

Veterans Memorial Ski Area in Franklin, NH: 230 vert with a rope tow and a Tbar.

Northeast Slopes in East Corinth, VT. Very cool Nonprofit cooperative run area with 350’ vert and 3 surface lifts. East Corinth is “the other Vermont” when compared to Stowe, Stratton, Ludlow etc. I missed Glen Plake’s visit by a day a few years ago.

Still looking to hit up Mt. Eustis in Littleton, NH too.

I have not. Although I’m familiar with it. Heck I don’t have a lot of days at Cochran’s big name neighbors even.
A Ski Diva I know lives near Cochran's and had a few lessons with Barbara Ann last season. The Diva was a boarder first who later decided to learn to ski for backcountry touring.
